Recreation

Colby College is located in Waterville on 714 acres overlooking Waterville and the Kennebec River Valley. The beautiful, picture-postcard campus offers guests a safe, retreat-type setting. The campus itself is easily navigated on foot. Scenic paths connect campus buildings, and a brisk five-minute walk will take you anywhere you need to be.

While on campus, guests may take advantage of the fitness center, sauna, indoor pool, squash courts, indoor and outdoor tennis courts, and an all-weather eight-lane track. Lots of grassy areas are available for outdoor activities (tag, soccer, ultimate frisbee, etc.) There are miles of walking and cross-country running trails that wind through the wooded areas of the campus and the Perkins Arboretum.

The Colby College Museum of Art is free and open for both students and parents to explore. In addition, they provide various opportunities for our participants, including guided museum tours, Art + Cart stations that offer hands on activities related to a current exhibit and Drop by Art Activities which offers guided art projects.

For additional hiking and running trails, guests may visit the Quarry Road Trails, located within walking distance to campus and offering more than six miles of trails. Also, near campus are several excellent golf courses, including the Belgrade Lakes Golf Club and Waterville Country Club’s challenging and well-maintained 18-hole course.
