Colby College is located in Waterville on 714 acres overlooking Waterville and the Kennebec River Valley. The beautiful, picture-postcard campus offers guests a safe, retreat-type setting. The campus itself is easily navigated on foot. Scenic paths connect campus buildings, and a brisk five-minute walk will take you anywhere you need to be.

While on campus, guests may take advantage of the fitness center, sauna, indoor pool, squash courts, indoor and outdoor tennis courts, and an all-weather eight-lane track. Lots of grassy areas are available for outdoor activities (tag, soccer, ultimate frisbee, etc.) There are miles of walking and cross-country running trails that wind through the wooded areas of the campus and the Perkins Arboretum.

For additional hiking and running trails, guests may visit the Quarry Road Trails, located within walking distance to campus and offering more than six miles of trails. Also, near campus are several excellent golf courses, including the Belgrade Lakes Golf Club and Waterville Country Club’s challenging and well-maintained 18-hole course.

Seven miles away is Colby College's Hume Center. The Hume Center is on 10 acres (including 450 feet of lakefront) on Messalonskee Lake. There you will find a picnic area, a small beach for swimming, croquet and horseshoes and two small bath/changing houses. This is open for NESI guests to use at their own risk during the daytime. The Belgrade Lakes Region also offers several public hiking trails, including French Mountain and Mount Phillip (which offer outstanding panoramic views) in addition to seven lakes.
