Malgosia Lis, Piano
Malgosia Lis earned her Master of Music in Piano Pedagogy at the Paderewski University of Music in Poznan, Poland. She is a faculty member at the Hartt School Community Division in West Hartford, CT, where she is the Coordinator for the Suzuki Piano Department, Piano coordinator for the Chamber Music program, and the Piano Coordinator for the Hartt Suzuki Summer Institute. She was the Coordinator of the "Suzuki in the Dolomites Festival" in Italy in July 2016 and 2017. The Suzuki in the Dolomites was approved by the European Suzuki Association and the Italian Suzuki Institute and is part of the large Mezzano Romantica Music Academy International Festival. Malgosia was the Piano Coordinator for the 2012 Suzuki Conference of the Americas in Minneapolis, MN.
Her Suzuki training has been with Yasuko Joichi, Francoise Pierredon, Doris Koppelman, Doris Harrel, and Mary Craig Powell. Her students participated and received numerous prizes at piano competitions and festivals, and were selected to perform at the Suzuki Conference Masterclasses and concerts every conference since 2010. She was also the coordinator of the Carnival of the Animals project at the 2018 Suzuki Conference. Malgosia is frequently invited as a masterclass teacher/clinician for Piano Workshops and Institutes. She collaborated with Mirror Visions Ensemble and performed at the Polish Library in Paris, France. She particularly enjoys performing music for multiple hands/pianos. She is a founding member and board member of the Hartford Music Teachers Alliance. Malgosia lives in West Hartford with her violinist husband and has three lovely children, ages 27, 23, and 17.
