Recreation at Colby College
Colby College, located in Waterville, spans 714 acres and overlooks the picturesque Kennebec River Valley. The campus provides a serene, retreat-like atmosphere that is safe for visitors. It is easily navigable on foot, with scenic paths connecting the various buildings. You can reach any destination on campus in just a brisk five-minute walk.
While on campus, visitors can enjoy a range of recreational facilities, including a fitness center, sauna, indoor pool, squash courts, both indoor and outdoor tennis courts, and an all-weather, eight-lane track. Numerous grassy areas are available for outdoor activities such as tag, soccer, and ultimate frisbee. Additionally, there are miles of walking and cross-country running trails winding through the wooded sections of the campus and the Perkins Arboretum.
The Colby College Museum of Art is free and open for both students and parents to explore. The museum also offers a variety of engaging activities, including guided tours, Art + Cart stations with hands-on projects related to current exhibits, and Drop-in Art Activities featuring guided art projects.
For even more hiking and running trails, guests can visit the Quarry Road Trails, which are located within walking distance from the campus and offer over six miles of trails. Nearby, the Alfond Municipal Pool Complex features multiple pools, lap lanes, two waterslides, and interactive water features. Additionally, several excellent golf courses are close by, including the Belgrade Lakes Golf Club and the well-maintained 18-hole course at the Waterville Country Club.
